“Outstanding Use of Video” Award and Saturday Reflections by Holly.
In 2017, I won an award for “Outstanding Use of Video”, presented to the Meyer Lucas Real Estate Team by EXP Realty. The award was given to us for innovation in listing marketing video (selling one of our homes for sale), and it meant the world to me. It was the first time I realized how much of a true marketer and creator I am, and the recognition for my ideas, innovation, and creativity was something I had never celebrated before.
Of all the awards we’ve snagged with the Meyer Lucas Real Estate Team (and trust me, this is NOT a humble brag—just straight facts), there are two that still hold a special place in my heart: our Outstanding Use of Video award from EXP and our Inman Innovator nomination.
Why? Because back when EXP was just a baby company finding its footing, this award validated everything I believed in—the power of creativity, storytelling, and thinking outside the box. We were leading the charge in video marketing before it was cool, and being recognized for it felt like such a game-changer.
We absolutely crushed video marketing “back in the dizzay,” turning listings into mini-movies and showcasing properties in ways that caught eyes and sparked conversations. Even though our time with EXP was brief, it was during a pivotal era of early social media innovation. We unknowingly stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the OG creators who were redefining how real estate was marketed online.
Fast forward to now—I’ve dialed back on starring in listing videos myself (if you’re curious why, let me know, and I’ll spill the tea in another blog). But one thing that hasn’t changed is my love for watching others absolutely dominate this space. You guys are HILARIOUS and so ridiculously talented. The best creators out there are seamlessly blending self-marketing with listing promotion, and it’s an art form I’ll always admire.
These days, my passion lies in helping others refine their video strategies. While I might not be front and center in our videos anymore, I still cherish looking back on the work we created, my archived projects, and the creative process that got us here.
To everyone in real estate killing it with your video marketing: Keep going. You’re inspiring the next wave of innovation, and I’m here cheering you on every step of the way. 🚀
